Wests Tigers' Chris Lawrence Joins DD

After watching a recent appearance on the NRL Footy Show by Wests Tigers player Chris Lawrence, DD contacted the rising young star to discuss his new business, LivePlayWork (LPW) Health & Fitness. We consequently shared a cup of coffee with Chris and one of his business partners Leon Keir. (The third partner in LPW is former Sydney Olympic premier league football player, Craig Wakefield.)

LivePlayWork Health & Fitness is a new venture formed by the three young athletes, whose eventual aim is to run a private, high end ‘Sports Institute’. The business will encompass a wide variety of sports and offer services ranging from group and private coaching, to personal training services, school sport programming, nutrition, health and lifestyle advice, health and fitness retreats, sports medicine and sports psychology advice.

LPW has started by providing an ‘In School Sport Program’ designed to assist schools in teaching children the importance of an active lifestyle, while at the same time giving them basic skills in a number of different sports. The aim is to build on the individual skill levels of the students in various sports in the hope they may then take up their favourite sport on a regular basis through a club.

The company also runs school holiday clinics (both Rugby League specific and Multi-Sports) for kids aged between 5-12. The clinics present enjoyable and inclusive activities and games, all designed to encourage kids to be more physically active. The next clinic takes place at St Gregory's College, Campbelltown in July.

An exciting new initiative will kick off in January next year… Health and Wellbeing Retreats for adults. At these retreats, Chris, Leon and Craig will show participants how to live healthy lives and become great role models for their own children – a great way to attack the Obesity Crisis.

Adults will be taught how to achieve a high quality of life, be healthy and have the right frame of mind to enjoy life, happily experiencing new challenges. (And it’s not just about going to the gym twice a week, going on a fad diet or buying the latest ab swing.) The hope is that people will feel so good after experiencing a 4-day LPW retreat that they’ll break old habits and change their lifestyle to improve the way they feel, think, eat and behave moving forward.
