good sports

VOGUE Australia Magazine June 2008
Facebook is fine if you want to see photos of how friends in New York spent their weekend, but if you want to find a gym partner or new squash opponent you'd best wander over to www.doubledrummer.com.au, a social networking site devoted entirely to people whose lifestyles tend toward the more active end of the spectrum. The site can also put you in touch with coaches, sports clubs and even physios. Every sport imaginable is covered, from abseiling and boxing to Zorbing (rolling downhill in a giant inflatable ball), and you can find people in your area who are up for a bit of competition or just looking to increase their social circle. The best part? This site doesn't consider poking a sport.

Well World No. 1 Roger Federer might have been rolled by a new champion at this year’s Australian Open, but a group of new friends from Manly still came home happy after witnessing an amazing victory by the great man… his 3rd round five set epic against another young Serbian, Janko Tipsarevic.
These locals all met through new online sports community, DoubleDrummer.com – a social networking site that’s been described as “MySpace in a tracksuit”… except unlike Myspace, Facebook and other such sites that try to capture members and keep them in front of a computer screen for as long as possible, Double Drummer is all about using technology to connect, then having fun ‘out of site’...
